Shrikhand Mahadev Trek

श्रीखण्ड महादेव ( Shrikhand Mahadev) trek is one of the most difficult pilgrim treks in India. Many devotees of Lord Shiva visit this place every year. It is a 35 km long trek with forest and glaciers on the way. One has to be confident and faith in Shiva to complete this trek. I am sure, you will find the place very interesting and adventures. People are very generous around. This place belongs to district Kullu of Himachal Pradesh. There is a Shivalingam (Shila of stone) of height around 75  feet and the height of this place is around 18,570 feet. This is a real heaven. Only two types of people can reach this place, one is Shiva's followers and others are nature lovers. If you are both then congratulations, this trek is only for you.

Now, Let's start with the journey, I with my 3 friends decided to go. One was my college friend (Parveen), my roommate (Mohit, when I was working) and one Mohit's friend (Sahil), who came from Rishikesh that day by driving his car. I and Parveen were at Shimla, watched out India's cricket semi-final with a huge crowd on The Ridge, Shimla, on 9th July 2019. At around 12 in the night, we all met and left for Jaon village. We reached there by 5 am and took a room for 1-2 hours for rest.

Road Map:
Chandigarh to Shimla (112km)
Shimla to Rampur (d 130km)
Rampur to Nirmand to Bagi-pul (35km)
Bagi-pul to Jaon village (7km)
Note :
The way to Nirmand is just 3-4 before Rampur.

We started our trek at 7 am with full interest and motivation. After a few minutes of walking, we were walking beside a small river. This walking was totally mesmerizing. We saw people were plucking apricots (खुबानी), so we requested for some and they happily gave us a full hand of those to all. We thanked them a lot, those apricots were perfectly riped and delectable. With this joy of the moment, we reached at Singhad in just 30-40 minutes.

Singhad is the base camp of this journey. One has to register there if going in official dates. Medical check-up camp was also there. Few langer facilities were also there. This place was decorated as a fair.

We had our breakfast (chai + biscuit) and had a little talk with people about the trek and stay. He told us to have a cup of tea at Barahatti-Nala. We left Singhad at around 8 am. We entered into a jungle and just imagine you are walking beside a river in the jungle. Very pleasant and plain jungle with a cool breeze from the river. We were really enjoying the trek till now as we were very fresh. After another 30 minutes, we went down a few metals stairs and reached Barahatti-Nala. Just at the end of this place, a small bridge is there, at this place we had a cup of tea and had some gossips with that Bawa, who was serving there. He was in his 60's with good fitness.
